About Us
Seed and Root began as small boots-on-the-ground response to hurricanes and has grown into a lean, mission-driven consultancy that helps governments and NGOs turn chaotic disaster sites into resilient, future-ready communities.

My road to “Cultivating Resilience, Rooted in Recovery”
I grew up in coastal Georgia, where hurricanes and tornadoes were annual house-hold names.
-
14 years in law enforcement taught me what happens when vulnerable neighborhoods are left to “figure it out” after the cameras leave.
-
Overseas military deployments showed me the power of logistics—and of local partnerships—to move critical supplies when every minute counts.
-
Environmental health & safety work deepened my conviction that rebuilding isn’t finished until communities are healthier and stronger than before.
The turning point came during Hurricane Florence: as a supply-chain operations manager for a major retailer, I orchestrated the flow of life-saving essentials into cut-off towns. Watching pallets of water and medicine roll out while roofs were still blowing off, I realized that most recovery efforts stop at “good enough.” Communities deserved more.
Why Seed and Root exists

Our name captures the vision: plant the seeds of relief, nurture the roots of long-term stability.
